My favourite free guided meditations

Meditation is amazing. Its a beautiful way to transform your mind set, let go of old grievances, open your heart, enhance your energy, navigate emotional suffering, and connect and centre yourself. Meditation is no longer just for hippies and yoga teachers! It's used by CEOs, fashion designers, business owners, and athletes - people at the top of their game.

Its funny how tricky it can be to get into the habit of meditating! We're all so good at doing, doing, doing that it's difficult to stop and just be. When I first decided that I'd like to start meditating daily, I stuck a sign above my desk that read "have you meditated today?". Gentle reminders like this (you could even pop a reminder on your phone or schedule a medi sesh in your diary) will help you get into the habit.

Whether you've never meditated before or you've been doing it for a while, guided meditations are an awesome way to practice sitting in stillness, so here are some of my favourite free guided meditations for you to try:

A lovely 5 minute meditation with Melissa Ambrosini and Lorna Jane Clark (this one is great if you feel that you have "too many thoughts" to meditate!)

A really beautiful 10 minute medi with the lovely Tara Bliss

Great medi with Gabrielle Bernstein to help you break through blocks in your life

A great selection of longer mediations by Deepak Chopra (including meditations for healing, abundance, perfect health, creativity, peace, and emotional release.)

Set up a meditation space with a cushion and maybe some candles, crystals, images, or a plant you like - choose things that have spiritual meaning to you or create a feeling of peace (meditation doesn't have to be spiritual if you don't feel thats your thing!).  If you're just starting out, set yourself the goal of meditating for just 5 minutes each day. I find that meditating first thing in the morning means I don't forget or feel too busy later in the day and it sets a lovely tone for the rest of the day. I really notice the difference on the days I meditate, even if its just for 5 minutes! I feel calmer, more focused and productive and I'm less likely get flustered or frustrated. My day flows with more ease and I spend more time living in the moment, instead of getting unneccessarily caught up with thinking ahead and running through my mental to do lists.
